Anyone who has seen her on stage recognizes her immense charisma.  Celina da Piedade is a composer, accordionist and singer, and has taken her creativity to the most varied contexts, from traditional music to a more contemporary and universal feeling, going through all of the richness of Cante Alentejano but also the energy of folk and pop music.  In 2021 she presents her fourth solo album, “Ao vivo na Casinha”, recorded live at the mythical Xutos & Pontapés studio, full of musical novalities and also new versions of some of the most emblematic songs from her repertoire.  In the various on stage performing formats she presents us, whether solo, accompanied by her band or with guests (such as Rodrigo Leão, Tim, Vitorino, Uxia, João Gil, among others), accompanied by choral groups or even in her very special concert format “Celina da Piedade e as Vozes do Cante”, she draws songs full of soul and personality, which, on stage gain with her formidable presence and sense of artistic sharing.


She already released four albums in her solo work: "Em Casa" (Melopia 2012),  "O Cante das Ervas" (Melopeia and Jardim da Boa Palavra 2014), “Sol” (Sons Vadios 2016) and "Ao vivo na Casinha" (Sons Vadios, March 2021).


With Uxu Kalhus, as singer, accordion player and composer, she released "A Revolta dos Badalos" (Hepta Trad, 2004) and "Transumâncias Groove" (2009).


With Rodrigo Leão, as a multi-instrument player and singer in his project, has well composer, she took part in all the concerts, tours and records between 2000 and 2017, and actually she stills colaborates in recordings and some  concerts. To this collaboration others added, as both artist and composer: Mayra Andrade, Uxia, Ludovico Einaudi, Kepa Junkera, Gaiteiros de Lisboa, António Chainho, Samuel Úria, among many others.


She's a member of the big music collective Tais Quais, side by side with Vitorino, Tim, Sebastião Santos, Serafim, Vicente Palma, Paulo Ribeiro e João Gil, already with three released albums: “Os fabulosos Tais Quais” (Sony Music 2015), “Os fabulosos Tais Quais ao vivo no Tivoli” (Sony Music 2017) e “As novas aventuras dos Tais Quais” (Sony Music 2019).


In 2020 she premiers the children's musical "Assim devera eu ser", side by side with Catarina Moura, Sara Vidal and Ricardo Silva, comissioned by Fábrica das Artes- CCB for Amália Rodrigues's birth centenary.

Over the years, she has participated as an musician and teacher in hundreds of dance and traditional music workshops around the world. She's actively dedicated to the research, mediation and promotion of Alentejo's musical heritage, collaborating with singers, choral groups and local entities. She is currently a teacher in the project “Cante nas Escolas”, in the Municipality of Beja (Portugal). She is co-author of the book “Caderno de Danças do Alentejo”, ed. PédeXumbo.


Celina da Piedade is also a researcher in the areas of Intangible Heritage and Ethnomusicology, having a degree in Cultural Heritage (University of Évora) and a master's degree in Musical Sciences - Ethnomusicology (FCSH-UNL). She currently integrates INET-md (Institute of Ethnomusicology - Music and Dance) as a researcher.
